New lens, new perspectives... Oct 27-29 PhotoPlus Expo

The announcement of the new lenses should be coming real soon. On October 27-29, Zeiss is expected to show us something new at the PhotoPlus Expo (booth 1218). We are expecting two SLR lenses, the Distagon 25/2.0 and Distagon 16/2.8.

  1. The PhotoPlus page states that Carl Zeiss announces the worldwide debut of a new ZEISS SLR lens. Does it mean there will be only one new lens? Distagon 25/2 or 16/2.8?

  2. "New lens" = singular = one single lens.

"Visit the Carl Zeiss booth at the PhotoPlus Expo to see the latest entry to the Zeiss ZE & ZF.2 range of SLR lenses. This new wide angle lens fills a void in the product line and will offer high performance for the discriminating professional still photographer and videographer."

  3. In addition to the above: "New perspectives" is more in favour of a 16mm than a 25mm f/2 since there is already the Distagon 25mm f/2.8.

  4. Strange enough, the image they posted is clearly leaning toward right (besides buildings, look at the two fugue lines in the bottom corners...)

  5. the 16 seems like a unique offering for photo aps. not so much on the 25 since it's so close to the 21mm and 35mm from Zeiss and 24mm lens in Nikon/Canon offerings. perhaps the video guys will like it, but at these prices, can't afford to have every lens in between.
